From processes and technology to building a team and delegating, Jessica Frigon joined me to chat about what it looks like to enhance efficiency, without losing empathy in business.
Jessica is a seasoned expert with over 15 years of experience in Operations and Integration and owner of PROJECT LOVE – a firm offering an unparalleled, full-scale, and elite operational service. She has gone from corporate world to full-time business owner, with a passion to help other entrepreneurs streamline processes, automate repetitive tasks, and create a functional ecosystem that allows them to step fully into the visionary role as CEO while also providing the freedom to focus on what matters most.
Entrepreneurship is one of the most self-developing journeys you can experience, and when it comes to the back-end of business, we often find ourselves consumed in every role vs focusing primarily on our zone of genius that allowed us to dive into owning a business in the first place. With that said, it’s so important to build foundational elements in your business that allow you to scale and actually reach those goals you’ve set out to achieve.
And if the phrase “scaling your business” creates a state of fear or panic, let’s clear the air. Scaling does not equal a large corporation or 8-figure income… Scaling means what success looks like to you as an individual – to some, that’s a small, tight-knit team offering more, for less. Breaking down what success looks like and means to you, and aligning your life with that, is how you’re going to determine what successful scaling looks like in your business.
So how do we do more, for less so we can finally start seeing that shift from wearing all the hats and being the bottleneck in business to fully stepping in as CEO? Here’s how:
01. Processes
02. Technology
03. Delegation
Let’s dive in a little more to what that looks like!
The first step in being able to truly step into the role of CEO is to assure you have processes in place that reflect how you currently run and want to run your business. Review what’s already been put into place – is it working? If you have a system that is functioning but is not producing the outcome you desire, you need to make adjustments to that process. Once you’ve determined exactly how you want things to be executed, it’s crucial to break down the workflow in detail so when it’s time to delegate tasks that no longer require your direct attention, you do have the exact system outline and ready to hand over.
It’s time to ditch the manual processes that technology can take over for you and leverage those automation capabilities. Consider your business and the workflow that needs to happen, then research what applications are out there that can best support you and your business with it’s functionalities.
Pro Tip: utilize a platform that you enjoy and find to be user-friendly.
If you are trying to navigate a program that you find confusing or challenging, you’re not going to use it to it’s full potential and then it becomes another thing on your mind. Technology is meant to help support you in a way that you can “sit it and forget it”, not something that is going to consume more time or energy.
Here is a list of mine [and Jessica’s] go-to tech apps that keep our business running:
Processes and technology only go so far…
Delegating is a huge component to being able to do more without giving more of your time. And there’s a reason delegation should come after processes and technology – because bringing someone on to your team without a how-to in place and established technology running, will be, simply put – chaotic. If you have taken the time to get your processes and systems working, you’ll be able to delegate tasks that will be completed in alignment with how you want them done vs being completed your team thinks it should be done. This will also prevent you, as the CEO, from constantly having to check over their work as well as provide them the tools they need to initiate new developments for execution.
So are you ready to step out of the weeds and get back into the visionary role as a strategic and creative CEO you were meant to be in your business? If so, I hope this helps give you the confidence and reassurance you need to pave the way to scaling!
