Meet Mckenna
When Mckenna and I met, she was just over two years into running her digital marketing agency, and on paper, things looked good. She’d grown her monthly revenue significantly since starting out. Clients loved her. Referrals kept coming.
But behind the scenes, she was working close to double the hours of a normal work week, every single week, with no real marketing strategy and almost no systems or processes to speak of. The growth was real, but it was fragile, held up almost entirely by loyal clients, word-of-mouth, and Mckenna’s own exhaustion.
She struggled to say no. Scope creep was constant. Timelines shifted. She was working through weekends without the profit to show for the hours she was putting in.
“It felt as though we were one small bump in the road from everything falling through my fingertips.”
From the outside, Sonder Studios looked successful. Mckenna knew something had to change if she wanted a business that could keep growing without her doing everything herself.
The Decision: Finding Someone Who’d Actually Done It
Mckenna is a self-proclaimed serial course-taker. If there’s an online course out there, chances are she’s taken it. But she’d hit the point where she knew information wasn’t the gap anymore. She needed someone to get in the weeds with her.
She heard me speak at a Showit conference and knew almost instantly she wanted to work together.
“You were the first to identify we could be incredibly successful, very quickly, doing all the things we wanted to do.”
The investment made her nervous. She’d even texted me at one point, unsure if she could make it work, before immediately knowing she’d regret it if she let the spot go. She said yes anyway, and paired 1:1 coaching with SGA for the full experience.
What We Worked On Together
We started with the foundations. Mckenna was significantly undercharging for her services, so we rebuilt her pricing from the ground up, restructured her offers, and got clear on her ideal clients so that every part of the business finally pointed in the same direction.
From there, we moved into systems, processes, hiring, and leadership, the infrastructure that actually lets a business hold more weight without breaking. When we started, Mckenna had one team member who’d been with her for a matter of months. Within a few months of coaching, she’d built out a real team.
“What I appreciated most is that we didn’t just make changes for the sake of growth. We made them intentionally and sustainably. Every session gave me practical next steps I could immediately implement.”
The Turning Point
Mckenna says it’s hard to name just one turning point, because there have been so many. But the throughline has been this: every time she’s had to raise her rates, hire someone new, or make a decision that felt bigger than the version of her who started the business, she’s had someone in her corner giving her tangible, strategic next steps instead of just cheering from the sidelines.
“What could have felt overwhelming became exciting because I knew I wasn’t figuring it out alone. Every week it feels like we unlock another level of growth.”
The Results
Within a short window of working together, Sonder Studios saw revenue triple. Mckenna landed her first multi-five-figure project, grew her team, and is now on track for well over 200% year-over-year growth.
She also completely restructured her services, raised her rates multiple times over, transitioned every existing client to the new pricing, and started signing new clients at those premium rates, all while elevating the client experience to match.
A few of the shifts:
- Revenue: tripled
- Team: grew from a single team member to a full, functioning team
- Rates: raised significantly, with a full client base transitioned to new pricing
- Year-over-year growth: on track for 220%+
- Landed her first multi-five-figure project
Beyond the Numbers
Mckenna is quick to point out that the real transformation hasn’t just been financial.
“There were so many limiting beliefs and patterns that I didn’t even realize were holding me back. I had a tendency to people-please, undervalue what we offered, and sacrifice my own time and energy because I thought that was what it took to grow a successful business.”
Working through that mindset shift gave her the confidence to raise her prices, build out a team, pursue bigger opportunities, and lead her business in a way that actually feels aligned with the life she wants.
“Olivia never tried to build her version of my business, she helped me build mine. Every recommendation felt personalized rather than following a one-size-fits-all formula.”
What She’d Say to You
“Coaching is not an expense, it’s an investment in how quickly you can become the business owner your company needs. Could I have figured some of this out on my own? Probably. But it would have taken much, much longer and involved a lot more mistakes along the way.”
If you’re sitting where Mckenna was, booked out but not built to scale, working hard but without a roadmap, this is your sign.
